7 Weeks Old!

Today my little baby is 7 weeks old...where has the time gone??

Not much new to report since last week. Layne is still doing well and growing in front of our eyes. We don't have a scale at home, but if I had to guess, I'd bet he's tipping the scale at about 11lbs. It's fun to watch him learn and progress everyday - this past week he's able to lift his upper body up almost to his elbows during tummy time, and he can almost hold his head up entirely on his own when we hold him upright. He's also "talking" a lot more, so it's fun to converse with him :)

This past weekend we were outside a lot, we ate dinner on the patio of Bad Daddy's Burgers and went to the Taste of Charlotte festival, and it was so funny to watch Layne in awe what was going on around him. This was the first time that we saw him actually notice and absorb his surroundings outside of the house, and by the wide-eyed look he had the entire time, I think his mind was blown. We took him out of his carseat at the restaurant and he was turning his head in every direction, staring at people, and getting a lot of "awwws" and smiles in return. Who knew...there is a big world out there beyond our four walls!

On the sleep front, Layne is consistently sleeping 5-8 hour stretches at night, and has been for the past couple of weeks, which is officially considered "sleeping through the night!" He usually sleeps from about 10:30pm - 3:30am, but sometimes makes it to 5:30 or 6:30. And when he wakes up for that feeding, he eats quickly and usually goes right back to bed for another 3 hours, so I'm sleeping great! Since Jared is working and I'm nursing, I do all the night diaper changes & feedings, so this has been really nice.
