Things with Layne are good. His schedule has changed recently, and he's getting hungry every 2 hours during the day vs. every 3, so we're now on a 2 hour schedule of eat, sleep, play. This could explain how he's turned into such a little chunk! Since I'm still exclusively breastfeeding, I spend the majority of the day on my butt feeding him, but I'm enjoying the time and bonding with him. And since he's eating more during the day, he's pretty much sleeping through the night every night! Whoo-hoo!
What has made life a little more difficult is that he's become really clingy to me during naptime. If he falls asleep in my arms and I try to put him down to sleep so I can get something done, he wakes up and cries to be held again. This is our new constant daily battle, which I'm sure is just a phase. The doctor said he's too young to let "cry it out", so I'm making sure to give him what he wants & needs, which lucky for me...is ME! :) And thankfully I'm able to put him in his crib to sleep at night, so once again, we're lucky there.
What I get to stare at and cuddle with all day :)
On Wednesday, Layne and I made the 40 minute car ride to visit Jared at work. Layne did not do very well in the car on the way there or back, and had about a 15 minute tantrum each way. Hearing him cry to the point of almost losing his voice was so hard and almost drove me to tears myself, so on the way there I ended up pulling over to soothe him and on the way back we were luckily almost home. He used to love the car, but now that he's more aware of his surroundings, if he wakes up alone in the backseat and doesn't know where he is, he panics. Poor little guy. It just goes to show how much harder it is to get out and run errands, especially when I'm alone and can't jump in the back with him. It was fun to see Jared at work, regardless!
On Saturday it was a beautiful 78 degrees and sunny in Charlotte, so we took a long walk in the park and then took Layne to see his first baseball game! Layne absolutely loved it and was in complete awe of his surroundings the entire time. He was definitely beat afterward and ended up sleeping 9 hours straight last night.

Today for Father's Day, we did absolutely everything Jared wanted to do, which consisted of homemade brunch & bloody marys, watching a documentary about George Lucas in our PJs, shopping for used vinyls, and pizza & vodka sodas over the US Open. Layne gave Jared a coffee mug with pictures of himself on it (he's so vain...haha), and I got him a cool wall-mount beer bottle opener and more ingredients for his beer kit. It was a great day :)
