Today we are 17 weeks, and we are beyond thrilled to have made it through this week. The week started out tough, with the news that my last blood screening came back slightly abnormal. But, to every cloud there is a silver lining, and as a result they brought us in for our level II ultrasound a few weeks earlier than originally planned.
I am estatic, and relieved, to report that the ultrasound confirmed that the baby is still perfectly healthy and progressing on schedule! We spent a whole 30 minutes with the ultrasound tech, looking closely at every little inch of the baby, and it was so much fun. When the baby came up on the screen, looking like a BABY vs. the gummy bear we saw last time, Jared was in complete shock. Apparantly he didn't think s/he would look like a real live baby until birth :)
We immediately fell in love with the cute little face, and Jared proudly beamed, “HE has my flawless side profile!” Haha…that man is so humble. We also were in awe to see how much s/he moved, and laughed as we watched baby kick both legs as hard as s/he could as to say, “Get me out of here!” After seeing how active s/he is, it is crazy to think about what that will be like when I can actually feel the movement.
And to those of you who are wondering…we did not find out the sex (yet!). We both decided last minute that we didn't want to know yet, so the ultrasound tech had us look away before she looked “down there”. She was able to snap a photo confirming the gender and put it in a sealed envelope for us to look at, if we choose, at a later time. We haven’t decided when/if we want to look, but for now, it is too much fun to keep guessing :)
I now present our little angel:

Glad to hear that things are continuing to go well! Cute ultrasound...and you look amazing!
