Making Room for Baby

Jared and I had a productive weekend making room for baby. We spent all day Friday and Saturday cleaning, organizing, re-arranging and thowing out old junk to make room for the little one and for all of the STUFF we know will come along with. We only have two storage closets in our apartment, but luckily we have very high ceilings so we were able to add quite a bit of shelving for storing as well.

While not ideal, we've decided that (at least in the beginning) we are gong to have the baby's bassinet in our room, and keep the second bedroom as an office/guest room (which, if it ends up being tough sleeping in the same room, we might end up using as our secondary room!). Once the babe gets a little older, we will likely move them into the guest room and figure out what to do with my HUGE desk (yep...didn't know I was going to get knocked up when we purchased that one back in June). We hope to move back to MN sometime between next Nov - Feb, where we WILL have much more space and will be able to have an appropriate room for all of us. I can't wait!

On Saturday morning, we also had the pleasure of touring the hospital we plan to deliver at (which, if I haven't already mentioned, is only 3 blocks from our apartment!) We were really impressed with the hospital "amenities": jacuzzi tubs in the rooms, TVs with DVD players, dimming lights, surround sound music, and a second BED for dad! Jared was also pretty excited to find a caribou nearby. Seeing the hospital (and all of the babies in the nursery) made us even more excited for the big day, even though I'm sure it will be much more fun for Jared than me :-/

Finally, while we've been making room for baby in our apartment, my body has been making room for baby in my stomach! I've been experiencing the weirdest, almost stabbing pains in my pelvic area, which I initially assumed was baby gas (ew), but found out it actually has a technical term called "round ligament pain". The pain is caused from the stretching of ligaments and muscles to support my growing uterus. It's kind of crazy how my pregnancy symptoms have been worse in the second tri than they were in the first tri, since it's usually the other way around, but I still can't complain!
