Daycare

With the new year approaching, I've been thinking more about the inevitable topic of daycare. I'm planning to return to work full-time after my 12-week maternity leave (so...mid-July), so we need to start making some decisions on what we'll do with baby once that happens. I hate thinking about the cost burden and having to leave our 3-month old in the hands of an (almost) stranger, but as for many it is the necessary evil! Jared seems to think it's silly that we need daycare at all, and asked, "Since you work from home, can't you just watch the baby and work at the same time...?" HA!

We're leaning towards in-home care (as in our home) via a nanny. I think it would be awesome to work in my office and know that the babe is being taken care of in the next room and I can be there if need be. I'm not sure how much a nanny will like having her "boss" in the next room, but tough cookies!

I'm also hoping to only need the nanny 3 days per week, as Jared and I re-arrange our schedules a bit to make due. Wishful thinking I know, and cost will obviously have an impact, but for now that is plan A. Now for Plan B...hmmm....I think we'll cross that bridge once we get there. :)

  1. Let me know if you have any questions, if you do decide to go the nanny route. Being a nanny that has a boss that stays at home I would have some great insight. ;)
