This weekend Jared and I decorated for Christmas, and we are loving the cozy feeling it brings to our apartment. I got talked into buying an articificial tree this year, and to my shock the dang thing still sheds! Is that normal?? The only thing we are missing now is the SNOW!
It was important for us to decorate this year since we won't be going home for the holidays. Jared will likely be working Christmas Eve day and the day after Christmas, which doesn't allow us any time to make a trip back to MN. That makes us pretty sad and feel even more homesick than usual, but a part of me is excited to change it up this year and have a Christmas all to ourselves and to start creating our own traditions. Typically we have the "Four Christmases" scenario, where we try to see everyone in two days (which we wouldn't trade for the world), but it will be relaxing just to lay in our PJs all day and be on our own schedule. And we will be opening the baby's "Gender Envelope" on Christmas morning, which will be the best gift of all!
