During my time off last week I went to the salon to take care of some of the fun changes that our baby boy is bringing to my body.
First, I needed to re-color my hair, because I developed two random orange highlights near my temples. What is that all about?
Second, and I can't believe I am admitting this, I went in for a belly wax! I saw Bethenny Frankel do this on the "Real Housewives of NY" (judge if you will), and I thought it was weird at the time, but now I TOTALLY get it. For some reason in the last few weeks of my pregnancy, I've noticed a lot more hair on my belly, which is the last thing you want when everyone who sees you is asking to touch/feel your stomach. So, off with it!
Along with the experience (which didn't hurt too badly) came another milestone: it was the first time a stranger asked me if I was pregnant. I was laying on the waxing table, bare belly exposed, when a male hairstylist waltzed in to ask when I'd be ready for my cut/color. He stopped dead in his tracks, took one look at my belly and asked, "Um, is something in there?" I laughed and said yes, but later I wished I had faked a tear and said "no" just to mess with him. Guys are funny.
On a side note: baby has been moving A LOT! Last night we went to see "The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo" (great movie, by the way), and he moved almost the whole movie (maybe it was all the sour patch kids I was slamming). I can now see the movement under my belly, which is the most awesome sight in the world. So in love with this kid already!!
