I just got back from my 27 week appointment and am beyond excited!! They did an ultrasound to check up on his growth and he is looking perfect and weighing in at 2lbs 3oz (right on schedule). He also had a strong heartbeat at 155bpm. More good news is that he is head down, so he's already in ready position (although he better stay put for at least the next 10 weeks!!) The tech was absolutely amazing, and recorded the entire ultrasound for us on DVD since Jared was stuck at work and couldn't be there. I was also surprised when she looked at me in the middle of the ultrasound and asked, "Do you want to see it in 3D?" Ummm...yeah!!
So, here is a 3D sneak peak at our little guy...I think he's pretty handsome already but I know I'm biased. So far it looks like he has my nose, and according to Jared, his chin and "neanderthal forehead".
After the ultrasound I was given the 1-hour glucose and hemoglobin test, and they told me that my hemoglobin looks normal but my blood sugar was slightly elevated, so I have to come back for the 3 hour tolerance test to see if I am developing gestational diabetis. This consists of four blood draws, which is basically my worst nightmare, but I'm just hoping that I don't have it! I have been a little heavy on the sugar and carbs lately, so this will be good motivation for me to lay off the sweets. Hopefully that will help to keep the weight gain under control too - so far I've gained 20lbs, and I'd like to try to keep my total gain at 35lbs or below (for my sake and the baby's), so I better start being a little more careful.
