On Saturday, St. Patrick's Day. we decided to spend the entire day on Hilton Head Island, SC. We were originally planning to drive into Savannah for the parade and party, but were advised by a number of locals to stay away because of the crowds and craziness. After I thought about standing in biffy lines all day next to drunk people, since I'm now hitting the toilet at least once an hour, I said no thanks!
Hilton Head is an incredibly beautiful island with Palmetto and Spanish Moss lined street. This was definitely our favorite beach town in SC so far. In the morning we visited the Sea Pines resort, which is a gated community that has its own shopping, restaurants, mini-towns and golf courses. We both agreed that it would be our dream to retire there. We then spent the rest of the day on the beach and got some much-needed sun!

The beach at Hilton Head where we set our chairs. See how far the water is? Well, we left our chairs for 2 hours to sit at the Tiki Bar, and when we came back our chairs had been dragged up by a nice stranger because the tide almost took them away!

On Sunday we woke up early and made the 40 minute drive from Hilton Head to Savannah. At first sight, Savannah looked old and run down, but once we got into the heart of the historic district we were absolutely in love. The city is charming, live music filled the air and the streets were bustling with visitors in town for the big weekend. We made a pact to come back someday for St. Patrick's so we can appropriately enjoy all that Savannah has to offer!
