36 Weeks

Our 36th week of pregnancy has definitely been an eventful one!

We started out the week on Monday by celebrating my 27th birthday, and Jared treated me to dinner at my favorite salad bar Crisp, followed by the movie "Friends with Kids". He even made me my FAVORITE cake - homemade vanilla funfetti with vanilla sprinkles frosting! Thanks so much to everyone for the birthday wishes, cards, and gifts...I definitely have felt loved this week!

On Thursday night we attended a carset class, where we were able to install our carseat and have it inspected for safety. And it's a good thing we did, too, because it took us three times to get it right! And we LOVE our Chicco carseat, Aunt Karen and Uncle Jerry! :)

My 36 week appointment at the doctor went well. We got to see our little man on ultrasound again to check on his growth, and the doctor said he was measuring at about 35 weeks in size at 5lbs 11oz, so about a week behind. He has been measuring about a week behind this entire pregnancy, and each ultrasound has given him an estimated due date of 4/23/12, but the doctor said they won't adjust my due date from 4/16 and that he just might be a smaller baby (6.5 - 7.5 lbs), which he said is perfect for a natural delivery. Even though Jared was bumming out a little bit from this news (MY baby...SMALL??) I am thrilled to know I won't have a 9lb baby on my hands!

Everything else on the ultrasound looked great, all of his organs look to be functioning correctly, my amniotic fluid levels are good, and we were even able to see him practice his breathing a little bit! It was a little hard to get a good look at his features this time because he is getting big and he's head down face down. The tech was trying to give us another good 3D shot of his face, but it wasn't coming out because he wouldn't move his hand away from his head, which is what he was doing last time. I have a sneaking suspicion that he likes to play with his ear just like his daddy!

And on a sadder note, this week we took little Leela into the vet to get de-clawed. We debated for awhile whether we wanted to get this done, since most animal lovers will tell you it's "in-humane", but ultimately I knew I wouldn't trust her around the baby with ten razor sharp nails she can whip out anytime she gets scared or feels threatened. She did really well during the surgery, but since she's gotten home she's been acting really depressed and will hardly move, eat or drink. They said she would be in pain for a few days, and we're keeping her pretty drugged up, but it's still so sad to see her like that. I just can't wait to take the cone off of her neck tomorrow :(

Belly @ 36 Weeks (if I look more relaxed, it's because I got my first pre-natal massage this morning :):
