Layne is doing so well, and getting to be such a big boy. I took him down to our gym today so we could step on the scale together, and it looks like he's around 12.5 pounds! We'll get his "official" weight at the doctor on Tuesday, but it looks like he's almost doubled his birth weight in two months. What a chunk. On a side note, I was happy to see I was down a few more pounds...only 9 more to go to be at my pre-pregnancy weight.
This week he has taken quite a liking to his thumb, as you will see in the videos below. I think it is a sign of his new found independence and ability to self soothe, as he's been much less clingy this week. I hate to admit that it almost broke my heart when I saw him sucking his thumb...so what...you don't NEED ME anymore!? We are also working on his neck muscle strength, which a little difficult because he HATES tummy time, as you will also see below.

Layne and I have had quite the busy week shopping together in preparation for our trip home to MN and his baptism next week. He does great as long as I bring the Bjorn, so when he gets tired of his stroller I can put him in there and he falls right asleep.
We both overcame a big milestone this week...he had his first non-family babysitter!! One of Jared's all time favorite bands came through town (Iron Maiden), and he claims he has never before had the chance to see them live (and supposedly never will again), so I told him I'd keep him company at the concert. Luckily a great friend of Jared's has an amazing girlfriend who nannies often and works with kids, and we had both met her before (when she came over to deliver a meal of chicken parmesan the week after Layne was born) and fell in love with her, so I felt great leaving him with her for a few hours. She claims he was a good boy for her and she even got some smiles out of him.
We can't wait to see everyone in just a few days, and we also can't wait for Layne to FINALLY see his future home state!! He's a Minnesota boy...he just doesn't know it yet.

You have the right to remain cute.
Typical
The look on his face after I kissed him on the lips about 30 times in a row
The picture sent to me from our babysitter Abby...what a flirt.
