At three months, Layne is able to do the following:
- Coo
- Hold his head up during tummy time & and stay on his elbows
- Roll over from tummy to back with help...almost there!
- Smile big & often
- Giggle for short periods of time
- Grab and hold toys
- Clasp hands together (although he's been doing this since day 1)
- Hold his head up while being held upright, and move his head/eyes to track moving objects or people
- Bear weight on his legs and push with his legs
- Roll from side to side while on his back
- Do a full 180 in his crib, waking up with his head on the opposite side of the crib
One thing we've noticed about him is that he's very particular about how he's being held and what he's doing. He seems to already know what he likes, and will let you know by whining if he doesn't like what you're doing. Sometimes he wants to be held up on your shoulder, sometimes cradled, and sometimes he just wants to be put down and left alone. So we just follow his cues and try to keep him happy as best as we can. We have to work extra hard when he's tired and ready to sleep - he gets cranky and works himself up and then can't fall asleep, so we usually have to rock/soothe him to sleep, and it often takes more than one try to get him down.
This past weekend we did a mini getaway to Charleston, SC. We stayed at a really cute hotel called the Fulton Lane Inn right in the Historic district, and had some fun shopping, eating out and even had a quick trip to the beach! We kept Layne shaded and didn't last long, but it was nice to get to walk along the ocean and have some seafood on the beach. Lauri was also nice enough to volunteer to babysit both nights, so Jared and I got to enjoy some free time out together for the first time in a long time. We made stops at some of the same bars we had fun at last July, such as Wet Willies, and did a ghost tour of the city. It was a blast!
