Schneider Baby Story: 14 Weeks

Yesterday Layne turned 14 weeks old, but other than that, not much new to report! Layne had a few colicky days this past week, but I think he was going through a growth spurt.We're having a hard time keeping him down for naps in his crib during the day - he wakes up the second we set him down but he'll sleep all day if he's being held. Luckily he's still sleeping through the night in his crib, so we'll take it! He has also finally started to enjoy bathtime at night, so that's been a fun nighttime routine for us (along with bedtime stories).

I'm starting to get a little nervous for our nanny to start on 8/20. It's been so nice having Lauri here - she really has spoiled us. I feel like I'm able to fully concentrate on work during the day because I know he's happy & being well taken care of. I just realized that that probably won't be the case when someone new & much less experienced with babies is here - if she's not familiar or comfortable with Layne, we might be dealing with a lot of crying & fussing in the beginning and I can see myself having a hard time not poking my head out of my office to help her. I invited her over for a little "orientation" next week, so we'll see how that goes. I wish Lauri could stay here with us forever!! :)

Jared and I enjoyed a little date night this weekend and went out for dinner and a movie. It was our first time at a movie since Layne has been here, so you KNOW we did it right and stocked up on popcorn, drinks and candy. We may or may not have even snuck in a few alcoholic beverages. It was heaven! We saw Moonrise Kingdom, which was actually really good.

In other news, I just found out today that I am officially cleared to start applying for my next job in early October for a mid-November start date! So now I just hope the right position opens within that timeframe...we might be home before we know it :)
