For ease of reading, I will give you the bulleted version of the past month:
- Layne got to see his first exotic animals! We spent a Sunday at the Lazy 5 Ranch where Layne got to meet a giraffe, wild boar, elk, and lots more.
- I spent my first few nights away from Layne (4, to be exact) for business meetings and a friend's birthday party. While it was hard and I missed him, I learned that we can both survive, and that he does just fine on formula when my pumped suppy isn't sufficient (cringe).
- Layne and I flew home to MN for a TWO WEEK stint, for combined business/pleasure. He did AWESOME on the airplane on the way there and back! Didn't cry at all, slept a bit, and just played, smiled and laughed the rest of the time (and flirted with the people nearby). By the end of each flight I had a handfull of people commenting how good of a traveler he was, and he earned a couple of new pairs of wings. THANK GOD, especially since I was traveling alone, and since we got upgraded to first class. The key for us was booking early morning flights, since he is happiest early in the day.
- While in MN, Layne & I got to spend a lot of quality time with family & friends. We even got to say goodbye to Uncle Greg, since he is setting sail with the Navy in Japan. We both missed Jared, but thankfully he was able to join us for the weekend.
- Layne cut his top two teeth! Finally. They look huge.
- He has started to sit up on his own. He can only balance for 10-30 seconds, but it is nice to see him supporting himself. His playtime will get a lot more fun when he can sit up and play with his toys.
- Drumroll please.....LAYNE ROLLED OVER!! Jut two weeks sky of his 6 month birthday. I couldn't believe it - we had just gotten home in Charlotte from the airport, and I laid him on the bed and he flipped over immediately. Just like that, like he had been doing it his whole life. Now that he's figured it out you can't keep him on his belly for more than 2 seconds without him flipping. My big boy!
- Layne got his first taste of solid food! The Sunday after we got home from MN we decided to start him slowly with a few tastes of sweet potatoes at dinner. He seemed confused at first, but took a couple of bites. The second evening he opened his mouth for the gooey deliciousness and kept reaching out his arms for more. I think we have a little piglet on our hands.
