Jared and I visited MN this weekend for a friend’s wedding, and were happy to be able to share the exciting news with our family and (some) friends. Telling our families that there was going to be a new member to the family in seven short months was even more fun than we imagined.
Both sides reacted as expected. Jared’s side (which already has been blessed with three grandkids) welcomed the news with shrieks of joy and a flurry of excited talk about the new baby. My family reacted first in shock, then tears of joy knowing that the first grandchild/niece/nephew is on the way. Here are some fun reaction pictures (note: I'm really sad we didn't get any of Jared's parents - he forgot the camera when we told them :( ):
While I thought I could be clever and hide my pregnancy at one of my best friend’s weddings (while I was in the wedding party), I did not escape unscathed. Two of my best girlfriends, who know me better than most, noticed I wasn’t actually drinking from the champagne or beer glass I was holding and an innocent, “Are you pregnant?” turned into squeals and tears of joy (while I hushed so the bride wouldn’t be distracted on her big day!) I really am lucky to have such close friends who are as happy for us as family would be, and I cannot wait to share the news with the rest of my friends next weekend.
It really is amazing how much excitement and joy this has brought into our lives already. We are also amazed at our own personal journey in opinion on the kid subject, while 6 weeks ago we were willing to wait for kids, and now we are so thrilled it is happening now. We are so ready!
